Sale of Kansas City’s Power and Light Building Halted

As reported on November 19th by the Kansas City Business Journal and the Kansas City Star, the contract between Gailoyd Enterprises Corporation and West Properties, Inc., as sellers, and potential buyer, Sherman Associates, Inc., for the Power and Light Building and surrounding property in Kansas City, Missouri has been terminated.  The iconic Power and Light Building and the lots encompassing the majority of the same block are back on the market and listed by Gib Kerr of Re/Max Commercial Solutions.

Tax Abatement Entices Xpedx to move to Edwardsville, Kansas

The City Council of the City of Edwardsville, Kansas has approved the issuance of internal revenue bonds to incent Xpedx (a unit of International Paper) to move to a new site in Edwardsville.   The internal revenue bonds would allow for a 10 year, 60% real property tax abatement on the site.  As described in the Kansas City Business Journal, Xpedx currently has a distribution facility with approximately 180 employees in Olathe, Kansas.  Thomson Walker is representing the property owner in the transaction and assisted with securing the internal revenue bonds for Xpedx.

Kansas City Power & Light Building and Surrounding Property under Contract for Sale

As reported in the Kansas City Business Journal, the Kansas City Power & Light Building, owned by Gailoyd Enterprises Corporation, is under contract to be purchased by Sherman Associates, Inc.  Surrounding property owned by Gailoyd Enterprises and related-company, West Properties, Inc., is to be included in the sale. Iconic Kansas City Power and Light Building For Sale

As reported in the New York Times, the historic Kansas City Power and Light Building, located in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri, has been listed for sale by owner Gailoyd Enterprises Corporation. Thomson Walker, LLC provides legal representation for Gailoyd Enterprises Corporation and affiliated company, West Properties, Inc.  Gib Kerr of RE/MAX Commercial Solutions is the broker representing Gailoyd Enterprises and West Properties.

Super TIF Approved for Antioch Crossing

On April 20, 2012, the City Council of the City of Kansas City, Missouri approved a SuperTIF for the Antioch Crossing Tax Increment Financing District spear-headed by Developer, Antioch Redevelopment Partners, LLC.  Thomson Walker, LLC represented Antioch Redevelopment Partners on both the initial Tax Increment Financing and SuperTIF Incentives. The Kansas City Business Journal highlighted the approval.
