Metro North TIF Approved

The Metro North Tax Increment Financing Plan was approved by the City of Kansas City, Missouri in December 2015, clearing the way for the developer to begin redeveloping the site. The redevelopment of the Metro North Mall continues under the direction of Metro North Crossing, LLC. Thomson Walker is legal counsel for the developer and has assisted with securing tax increment financing from the City of Kansas City, Missouri. Thomson Walker Client IAS Partners Ltd. to Purchase and Redevelop Metro North Mall

Thomson Walker is pleased to announce that its client, IAS Partners Ltd., will be purchasing the Metro North Mall in Kansas City, Missouri for redevelopment. Thomson Walker will assist IAS Partners with securing incentives and working with the City of Kansas City, Missouri and various economic development entities as the project progresses. Thomson Walker has previously assisted the developer with the redevelopment of the Blue Ridge Mall and the Antioch Mall.

Emporia Pavilions Project Reviewed by Emporia City Commission

Spencer Thomson appeared on behalf of Emporia Land Development, LLC on February 12, 2014, before the Emporia, Kansas City Commission to provide an overview of the developer’s filing of a Tax Increment Financing Application and a Planned Unit District Application. The Applications relate to the project named “Emporia Pavilions”.

The City Commission Study Session meeting was followed by a neighborhood meeting in Emporia, Kansas at the Flint Hills Technical College. The public was asked to listen the development proposal and voice their initial concerns: “Public takes advantage of first chance to discuss Emporia Pavilions development.”

Thomson Walker is representing the developer on the project.

Burlington Coat Factory Commences Construction in Independence, Missouri

Independence, Missouri Developer Seeks Incentives While Raytown School District Protests

IAS Partners, LLC has requested assistance in the form of incentives from the City of Independence, Missouri, with the help of Thomson Walker, LLC. The Developer seeks to rehabilitate the former Blue Ridge Cinema property by adding retail users, including Burlington Coat Factory.

Despite protests by the Raytown School District, the Independence City Counsel approved the Developer’s request for a Tax Increment Financing Amendment.

Super TIF Approved for Antioch Crossing

On April 20, 2012, the City Council of the City of Kansas City, Missouri approved a SuperTIF for the Antioch Crossing Tax Increment Financing District spear-headed by Developer, Antioch Redevelopment Partners, LLC.  Thomson Walker, LLC represented Antioch Redevelopment Partners on both the initial Tax Increment Financing and SuperTIF Incentives. The Kansas City Business Journal highlighted the approval.
