Community Improvement District Petition Filed by Crackerneck Country Club in Independence, Missouri

As reported by the Examiner, Crackerneck Country Club, Inc. has filed a petition for the creation of the Crackerneck Center Community Improvement District (“Developer Seeks Special Taxing District“). The CID boundaries include Interstate 470 to the east; by U.S. 40 to the south; by Cochise Court, 46th Terrace and Bass Pro Drive to the west; and by vacant, wooded land to the north. The Independence, Missouri City Council is scheduled to review the petition at its October 1st and October 15th meetings. Thomson Walker, LLC assisted the property owner with the CID creation.

Tax Abatement Entices Xpedx to move to Edwardsville, Kansas

The City Council of the City of Edwardsville, Kansas has approved the issuance of internal revenue bonds to incent Xpedx (a unit of International Paper) to move to a new site in Edwardsville.   The internal revenue bonds would allow for a 10 year, 60% real property tax abatement on the site.  As described in the Kansas City Business Journal, Xpedx currently has a distribution facility with approximately 180 employees in Olathe, Kansas.  Thomson Walker is representing the property owner in the transaction and assisted with securing the internal revenue bonds for Xpedx.

Kansas City Power & Light Building and Surrounding Property under Contract for Sale

As reported in the Kansas City Business Journal, the Kansas City Power & Light Building, owned by Gailoyd Enterprises Corporation, is under contract to be purchased by Sherman Associates, Inc.  Surrounding property owned by Gailoyd Enterprises and related-company, West Properties, Inc., is to be included in the sale. As reported in the New York Times, the historic Kansas City Power and Light Building, located in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri, has been listed for sale by owner Gailoyd Enterprises Corporation. Super TIF Approved for Antioch Crossing

On April 20, 2012, the City Council of the City of Kansas City, Missouri approved a SuperTIF for the Antioch Crossing Tax Increment Financing District spear-headed by Developer, Antioch Redevelopment Partners, LLC.  Thomson Walker, LLC represented Antioch Redevelopment Partners on both the initial Tax Increment Financing and SuperTIF Incentives. The Kansas City Business Journal highlighted the approval.
